Chelsea interested in Mauro Icardi transfer with PSG future unclear
After a tumultuous exit (albeit on loan) to Paris Saint Germain, Mauro Icardi is reminding everyone why he was Inter Milan’s captain at the age of 22. Indeed he has been putting in immense displays and has banged in 19 goals for the Parisian club in all competitions. But as it seems, all is not well in the capital as evidenced by his lack of participation in the UCL game against Dortmund on Tuesday. Having the Neymar, Mbappe, Di Maria combination does not help matters.
As usual, the rumors mill has touted Chelsea as potential suitors amongst others vying for his signature. As customary in contract clauses, PSG retains the option to make his signing permanent but a cloud of uncertainty shrouds the deal, PSG Can activate the €65m (£54m) option to make the move permanent.
Real Madrid , Juventus, and Chelsea are interested in signing the 27-year-old and the clause in Icardi’s contract means they do not have to worry about PSG having first refusal.
Wand Icardi saying " “Will Mauro go to Juventus? I really don't know.
“I don't know if next season we will return to Milan or Paris. In football you never know. He will choose and we will follow him.
“It's difficult for you to argue because I know Mauro very well and I know exactly what he wants as a footballer and what makes him feel good as a man. I will follow him in his choices as wife and as his agent for extra security.”
Why Chelsea interested in singing Mauro Icardi ?
The forward position is one of the areas Chelsea desperately needs to bolster in the summer after a disappointing January that was ultimately banished with the announcement of the Hakim Ziyech deal. The jury is still out on having Tammy Abraham as the first choice striker, he started the season in scintillating form but has recently struggled partly due to nagging injuries. Perhaps, having a world-class striker like Icardi would help take some of the goal scoring load off of him as well as giving us the firepower to compete fiercely in all competitions next season.
