John Terry to help Villa manager topple Mourinho’s Tottenham
Having won seven major trophies (3x EPLs, FA cup, and 3x league cups) over two stints under the leadership of Jose Mourinho, John Terry goes head to head with the manager he unequivocally considers the greatest. Indeed our former captain, leader, and legend waxed lyrical about (arguably) our most successful manager. However, having helped Villa gain promotion to the premier league and continuing as their assistant head coach, he’s set to lock horns with Jose Mourinho on Sunday at the Villa Park.
The Aston Villa boss, Dean Smith, is hopeful that John Terry can be instrumental in getting one over his former Boss. When quizzed if he’ll be picking John Terry’s brain in the lead up to Sunday, Dean Smith declared “I have been picking JT's brains for the last 18 months! Hopefully the combined brains of myself, JT and Richard can overcome Jose.
'JT's been his captain twice at Chelsea and they've won a lot of trophies together. They've got a deep respect for each other.
'JT's openly spoken about the admiration he has for Jose as a coach and a person when they were at Chelsea.
'But the dynamics are different now. He's on my bench and he's sat behind me giving me bits of information that I'll need.”
When it comes to top level management in the world of football, not many managers are better than Jose Mourinho as pertinent to getting results.
Our beloved captain, who opted to play in the Championship instead of going against us in the league, surely learned from the best.
Like the proverbial patient dog, he’s honing his craft and biding his time to become the head coach. And we can only hope in the not so distant future, we’ll be chanting his name at our own dugout.
