Brilliant defence from Thiago Silva, his clearances and long balls were spot on, and although he did not succeed in that one tackle which led to a goal, he’s not to blame as the ball should never have been lost in our midfield and his performance as a whole was phenomenal. Unlike Pulisic, Broja’s appearance in the late second half was a breath of fresh air, his pace and composure in the counter attack was superb, and something we want to see more of, so perhaps a partnership between Broja and Sterling could be interesting as they’re both quick, can take on players 1 on 1 and can make us dangerous offensively, and that is something we haven’t been for a long while. Overall, it wasn’t the result we wished for, but there are a lot of positives to take away, it’s an early stage in the competition and we have a lot to look forward to. With the 5 year deal given to Graham Potter, we now have the time and freedom to address our issues and to regain confidence, because at Chelsea, we’re used to things changing and being difficult, but we’ve proven to still come through with successes, and I believe this season won’t be any different.
